1. Open Studio - Steve Mcpherson

Almost any object you can think of has been replicated or made in plastic -  from a miniature toilet to false teeth.

For over 30 years, Margate artist Steve McPherson has been collecting and creating art with the many plastic objects that frequently wash ashore on the Thanet coast.

His studio is crammed with found objects, repurposed into artworks of subtlety and detail.

While it is impossible to ignore the environmental concerns present in his work, his practice draws analogies with the role of a future archaeologist and treasure hunter.

Steve’s work is shown internationally in museums, galleries and art fairs, his practice includes collage, collections, sculpture, installation, drawing, textile works, book works, photography, and sound.

Come say hello, in my Westgate studio, (Just down the road from Margate). Browse available works and see developments with new materials collected from the coast.
